Super Eagles: Brøndby make U-turn on Emmanuel Dennis after failed summer transfer

Retold by Oddsrama · 6 October 2026

Emmanuel Dennis gets another shot at Brøndby after the Danish club's failed attempt to offload the Super Eagles winger during the summer window. The 28-year-old had been surplus to requirements, with management actively pushing him out—until injury and the closure of the transfer market forced a U-turn. Now he's back in contention under new head coach Thomas Nørgaard, who gave him 30 minutes in a friendly against IK Sirius last week.

Dennis's Brøndby stay has been turbulent from the start. A serious muscle injury knocked him out of pre-season, forcing him into a lengthy rehabilitation spell away from the club. Director Julius Ohnesorge had made it crystal clear in August that the club wanted him gone, and Dennis himself was keen on a move. But with no suitors materializing before the window shut, the Nigerian international had to return to Parken with his tail between his legs.

Nørgaard hasn't exactly rolled out a red carpet, though. The new boss—who previously worked with Dennis at Nottingham Forest—has made plain that he's competing on level terms with everyone else. "If you recommend yourself, you get into the match squad," Nørgaard said, stressing there's no special treatment. Dennis hasn't played competitive football since May, so there's serious ground to make up before Brøndby's league clash against Lyngby on October 11. For betting purposes, watch how quickly he regains match sharpness; a rapid return to the squad could signal confidence in his recovery, but inconsistent playing time suggests the club still sees him as fringe. His wages run through June 2028, so Brøndby will be hoping he justifies keeping him on the payroll.
