Netflix secures 2030 World Cup TV rights in Spain

Netflix has secured broadcast rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup across Spain and Andorra, marking the streaming giant's first-ever venture into men's World Cup coverage. The platform will air all 104 matches live, with one game per match-day available free-to-air in Spain, alongside all Spanish national team matches and the tournament final on traditional television channels.
The 2030 edition will be a historic one, with Spain, Portugal and Morocco as co-hosts, while Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will each stage matches as part of the centenary celebration. Spain, fresh off winning this year's World Cup, will headline the action—a significant draw for Netflix's Spanish and Andorran audiences. The deal reflects streaming's growing appetite for premium sporting events; Netflix has already broadcast WWE, NFL games and boxing in the UK, and will show the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua heavyweight clash in December.
For bettors and football fans in the region, this shift matters. Netflix's exclusive grip on most matches could reshape how casual viewers engage with World Cup action—expect significant audience consolidation on the platform during tournament time. The free-to-air provision for one daily match and Spain's fixtures suggests the company is balancing premium content with accessibility, a smart play in a competitive streaming market. The company has also locked down women's World Cup rights for 2027 and 2031 in the US and Canada, cementing its position as a serious sports broadcaster.
