Real Madrid Demand Resignation Of La Liga President Over Nazi Comparison
Retold by Oddsrama · 16 October 2026
The tension between Real Madrid and LaLiga has reached boiling point after president Javier Tebas made a shocking comparison that has now triggered a demand for his resignation. Tebas took to social media to criticize articles in El Debate newspaper, claiming they were amplifying messages orchestrated by Real Madrid to target the league's officials. In his posts, he drew a parallel between the club's media strategy and Nazi propaganda techniques, specifically referencing the methods used by Joseph Goebbels. While Tebas insisted the comparison was directed at communication tactics rather than ideology or the fanbase, the remarks sparked immediate outrage at the Bernabéu.
Real Madrid responded with an official statement calling Tebas's conduct intolerable and demanding his immediate removal from both his LaLiga presidency and his vice-presidency at the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The club labeled his behavior as demonstrating a lack of neutrality and impartiality fundamentally incompatible with his institutional role. Madrid also pushed back against Tebas attributing third-party actions to them, arguing they cannot be held responsible for journalistic work they did not commission.
This explosive row sits atop months of existing friction. Back in September, Real Madrid had already called for a change in LaLiga leadership after Tebas dismissed their concerns about refereeing decisions as a smokescreen for poor on-pitch performance. From a betting perspective, institutional instability at league level can affect match integrity perceptions and how odds markets price fixtures—particularly those involving the club at the center of the storm. Whether Tebas holds his ground or faces pressure to resign, the fallout threatens to destabilize Spanish football administration at a critical time in the season.
